Over six months, the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations (URPI) of Kazakhstan recorded 1.1 thousand criminal offences of a corruption nature, which is 7.5% more than a year earlier.
According to Ranking.kz, 783 cases were classified as serious crimes, 206 cases as moderately serious crimes, and 33 cases each as particularly serious crimes and minor crimes.

It is reported that 30% of all corruption-related crimes were registered under the article 'Giving a bribe': 317 cases. 'Receiving a bribe' accounted for 214 cases, and 'Misappropriation or embezzlement of entrusted property' for 185 cases.
'Resolutions recognising individuals as suspects in criminal corruption offences were issued to 836 Kazakh citizens — 12.4% more than in January–June last year. Of these, 562 people were identified as having committed offences — 4.7% fewer than a year earlier. The court tried 475 defendants — 7% more than in January–June 2023.'
It has become known that 117 employees of akimats and their structural divisions ended up in the dock. Last year there were far fewer — 77 people.
Among those tried, there are also 72 employees of internal affairs bodies, 17 employees of the Ministry of Agriculture, 14 employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and 13 employees each of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health.
Of all the defendants, 36% are suspected of receiving a bribe, 19.4% of giving a bribe, 16.8% of misappropriation or embezzlement of entrusted property, 16.2% of fraud, and 4.8% of abuse of official powers.
By region, the largest number of those brought before the court is in Astana: 55 people, which is 12.2% more than a year earlier. The bottom three also include Shymkent (53 people) and Turkistan Region (42 people).
The lowest figures are observed in Aktobe, Karaganda and West Kazakhstan regions.
