The budget has allocated approximately 8.5 billion tenge to increase salaries for workers in forestry and environmental protection institutions.
According to the government press service, from 1 July this year, these workers will begin receiving supplements to their official salaries. It was reported that the corresponding decree was signed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov.
"In order to improve the system, conditions and levels of remuneration for workers of forestry and environmental protection organisations, amendments have been made to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan's decree 'On the system of remuneration for civil servants, employees of organisations funded by the state budget, and employees of state-owned enterprises'", the statement said.
It has become known that the document provides for up to 100% salary supplements for workers at forest fire stations, forestry institutions, environmental protection and forest management organisations.
These include forest firefighters, fire engine drivers, tractor drivers and operators, radio operators, mechanics for repairing fire engines, equipment and apparatus, and fire watchtower observers. It also stated that salaries would be increased for 113 firefighter-paratroopers in the aerial fire protection service.
"Financial costs from the republican budget for 2024-2027 amounting to 8,480.1 million tenge are provided for the implementation of the decree. A total of around 3,300 workers will receive the additional payment. Funding for the additional payment to 1,619 workers at forest fire stations of local executive bodies' forestry institutions is planned from local budget funds", the government reported.
It was noted that in July 2023, a 100% supplement to the official salaries of workers in forestry structures was established for work involving risk to life and health.
