The FBRK editorial team continues its report on the total remuneration amounts received by members of the executive bodies of Kazakhstan's national companies.
Today we will look at the total revenue of the board members of the national postal operator – JSC «Kazpost».
The national company boasts «the most extensive branch network in the country», which allows it to operate even in remote populated areas.
At the same time, the structural divisions of «Kazpost» are quite often implicated in corruption scandals.
For example, in August 2022, at one of the branches of «Kazpost» in the West Kazakhstan region, embezzlement totalling over 37 million tenge was uncovered.
In July 2023, a sentence was passed on the deputy director of a «Kazpost» branch in Pavlodar.
It was reported that the official received a bribe amounting to 2 million tenge from a representative of a contractor, for which he was sentenced to 3 years' imprisonment.
In April of this year, an accountant at a «Kazpost» branch in the Kazygurt district of the Turkestan region received 8 years for embezzling approximately 70 million tenge.
Recently, cashiers of «Kazpost» in the Zhambyl district of the Almaty region came under suspicion of embezzlement. The damage to the state was estimated at more than 84 million tenge.
But let's return to the size of the salaries of the national company's board members.
In 2020, the executive body of JSC «Kazpost» was headed by Kanat Alpysbayev. He worked for a long time at JSC «NC «Kazakhstan Temir Zholy» and even led the company from 2016 to 2018.
At the end of 2020, 8 board members received a total of around 100 million tenge.
In 2021, the position of chairman passed to Serik Saudabayev, who had worked at JSC «NMH «Samruk-Kazyna» since 2010.
At that time, the total remuneration for 8 board members amounted to around 184 million tenge.
In 2022, the board of JSC «Kazpost», now consisting of 9 people, was headed by Assel Zhanasova. She previously held the post of Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration.
At the end of 2022, the national company's executive body received over 117 million tenge.
