The Anti-Corruption Agency plans to return another 50 billion tenge to the state in the case of the nephew of Nursultan Nazarbayev – Kairat Satybaldy.
According to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, on 11 April, while considering Satybaldy’s case, the court decided to grant an additional period to conclude a procedural agreement. This was explained by the need to carry out the procedure for returning illegally acquired assets.
“During the investigation, K. Satybaldyuly fully admitted his guilt and assisted in the disclosure of property obtained through criminal means. At the same time, at the pre-trial investigation stage, the Anti-Corruption Service ensured the return to the state of property assets and funds belonging to the defendant and related persons totalling more than 732 billion tenge”, the statement said.
It is noted that the investigation into Kairat Satybaldy regarding tax evasion and other mandatory payments to the budget continues.
Recall that in September last year, Court No. 2 of the Baikonyr district of Astana sentenced Kairat Satybaldy to 6 years in prison. Earlier, we wrote in detail that the nephew of the first president is accused of several criminal episodes related to the oil and gas industry.
Later, Satybaldy filed a petition for parole, but the court of the EKR rejected it after consideration.
