49.98% of the investment fund Phoenix Fund Limited Partnership is owned by JSC «Kazakhtelecom»

According to «Kursiv.media», representatives of «Kazakhtelecom» stated that the company is focusing on «transformation towards an ecosystem model, the development of digital assets, and high-quality content provision for its multimedia platform TV+».

«In this regard, in accordance with the decision of the board of directors, the company is joining the newly created investment fund Phoenix Fund Limited, which includes digital assets whose synergy and cooperation will allow the company to expand and improve its product line and integrate them into the business group of companies of JSC «Kazakhtelecom», – the company's response states.

It has become known that Phoenix Fund Limited Partnership is a fund that invests in digital technologies and media. 

According to eGov.kz, the head of the fund is Ernur Rysmagambetov. He previously held the position of chairman of the board of «Administration of the Astana International Financial Centre» (AIFC)

It is reported that the fund's founders are listed as «Kazakhtelecom», ERG Investments Projects B.V. (Netherlands) and Digital Opportunities I Limited. The general partner is the fund BTS Digital Ventures Limited.

«One of the portfolio companies of BTS Digital Ventures is BTS Digital. Among its developments are Aitu Messenger, eOtinish, Digital ID, Aitu Passport, «Aitu Wallet 2.0» and the Instant Payment System», – the statement says.

As of today, «Kazakhtelecom» owns nine companies: «Kcell»; «Mobile Telecom-Service» (in the process of being sold); the Russian «KT-IX»; «VOSTOKTELECOM»; Center for the Development of the Digital Economy; «NURSAT+»; «KT-TELECOM»; CASPINET B.V. (50%) and, more recently, Phoenix Fund.
