The prosecutor's office of the city of Aksu has uncovered instances of mistreatment of elderly residents at a care home funded by the local budget.
According to the agency's press service, having reviewed video footage recorded at the facility, law enforcement officers established that two residents had been subjected to abuse and violence by care home staff over an extended period. One of the victims is 84 years old.
It has been reported that the helpless pensioners were regularly beaten, had their arms twisted, and during winter were put outside undressed.
In response, the city prosecutor's office has launched a pre-trial investigation. All those responsible have now been identified. The prosecutor's office has placed the investigation under special supervision.
It will be recalled that in January, law enforcement officers in Pavlodar identified a private care home where the rights of pensioners with disabilities were being violated.
The care home staff are suspected of restricting the food and movement of 20 pensioners, as well as systematically subjecting them to physical violence. Furthermore, the facility's employees are accused of having rented out the apartments of deceased residents over a prolonged period.
