The Interdistrict Criminal Court of Astana examined the case of the head of a department of the state revenue service on charges of accepting a bribe.
According to the press office of the agency, the official received a bribe from a company director in the amount of 3.6 million tenge.
"T., holding the position of head of the indirect tax administration department of the state revenue service for the city of Astana under the Ministry of Finance, through his subordinate received a bribe from the director of the company 'S' in the amount of 3.6 million tenge for the refund of overpaid value added tax", the statement said.
The defendant fully admitted his guilt and asked for a penalty in the form of a fine.
The court took into account mitigating circumstances: sincere remorse, having young children, and no previous criminal record.
As a result, the defendant was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months of imprisonment with a lifetime ban from holding positions in state service and in quasi-public sector entities.
At the same time, the court issued a special ruling addressed to the head of the state revenue department of Astana.
