A verdict has been handed down in Almaty for Gulmira Satybaldy and her assistant Madi Batyrshayev. According to the press service of the Almaty courts, they were found guilty of illegally depriving a person of their liberty, extortion, and arbitrariness.
The investigation established that in 2011, Satybaldy approached the sole shareholder of the JSC - the victim Abai Zhunusov - with a proposal for joint business. Incidentally, he is the former son-in-law of Gulmira Satybaldy.
"By agreement, the division of shares in the JSC was carried out, and she became the unofficial owner of a 34% stake. In 2019, based on information received, the defendant accused Zh. of embezzling funds totalling 5 billion tenge. Then, having entered into a preliminary conspiracy with her personal assistant B., she assigned guards to the victim, confiscated his communication devices, and illegally detained him in his own home under conditions of complete social isolation for 165 days. As a result, severe damage was caused to his mental state", the statement reads.
It has become known that during the period of illegal detention, Gulmira Satybaldy acquired the victim's and his relatives' money and property through extortion. As a result, the victim suffered material damage amounting to 217.9 million tenge.
"Furthermore, S. committed an act of arbitrariness; exercising her supposed right, she forced the victim to re-register rights to property and statutory shares to third parties affiliated with her, causing particularly large material damage amounting to 1.2 billion tenge", the court reported.
The court found Gulmira Satybaldy guilty and sentenced her to 12 years' imprisonment with confiscation of property. Madi Batyrshayev was sentenced to 9 years' imprisonment.
At the same time, the court ordered Satybaldy to pay the victim compensation for material damage in the amount of 2.6 billion tenge and moral damages in the amount of 10 million tenge. From Batyrshayev - 2 million tenge.
Under the civil claim of the victims Altai Zhunusov and Kasym Zhunusov, material damage amounting to 233 million and 109 million tenge, respectively, was recovered from the defendant.
As a reminder, the charges of illegal deprivation of liberty, extortion, and arbitrariness became known last year in court shortly before the verdict was announced for Gulmira Satybaldy, who was then given 8 years' imprisonment for misappropriation of someone else's property and embezzlement.
