The police are warning about a new phone scam involving intercom services.
According to Polisia.kz, unknown individuals are calling citizens, pretending to be employees of intercom maintenance companies, and offering to make "extra keys" or to activate a non-existent "keyless access" feature.
The fraudsters claim they can send a six-digit code that will supposedly allow entry to the front door without a physical key. They insist that each flat has a unique code and that the service is new and official.
In reality, no such service exists, and the purpose of the calls is to collect citizens' personal data.
According to police representatives, legitimate intercom companies do not activate keycode access without an official contract, do not request personal data over the phone, and do not offer services through cold calls.
Law enforcement authorities urge residents to remain vigilant and to end the call immediately upon receiving such offers.
In the event of suspicious calls, the police recommend reporting the incident by dialling 102 or contacting the nearest local police station.
