Football club "Akzhayik" has been placed on the debtor register due to a lack of state funding.
As reported by Ulysmedia.kz citing the Automated Information System of Enforcement Proceedings (AISEP), the club's debt to the state has exceeded 56 million tenge.
The head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the West Kazakhstan Region, Zhenis Nigmetullin, said that the club was transferred to private hands in 2020.
Despite this, in 2021 and 2022, "Akzhayik" continued to receive over 1 billion tenge annually from the state budget. In 2023, due to a lack of positive results, funding was reduced to 400 million tenge.
Another reason for this decision was the high salaries of the club's management and players.
"In 2022, the club president received over 1 million tenge per month, the financial director — 878,000 tenge, and the club director — 650,000. The salaries of 37 foreign footballers cost the budget an average of 1.9 million tenge each, with maximum payments reaching 3 million tenge. Overseas coaches also received significant sums — from 1.3 to 3 million tenge per month. In total, from 2020 to 2023, 3.2 billion tenge was spent", the report stated.
In 2024, "Akzhayik" had its funding completely cut. It emerged that the trustees were failing to fulfil their duties, leading to an accumulation of debts to the state.
By decision of the Economic Court of the West Kazakhstan Region, the club was placed on the debtor register. "Akzhayik" owed the state more than 56 million tenge, which led to the termination of the trust management agreement for the "Akzhayik" stadium.
The facility was returned to state ownership after its former manager — entrepreneur Guldariya Kauiyeva failed to provide the necessary documents.
Furthermore, Kauiyeva is the wife of Oralbai Zhaksymbetov, who is under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Agency. He is suspected of embezzling 57 million tenge allocated for children's training.
