The committee of the Astana International Financial Centre for the regulation of financial services (AFSA) has issued a warning about a cryptocurrency exchange using a fake licence.
According to Informburo.kz, the matter concerns the company Astana Exchange, which offers cryptocurrency exchange services. It has been reported that members of the public are urged to check the public register of companies licensed or registered with AFSA.
“Astana Exchange is using a fake licence to provide financial services. As a result of an analysis conducted, AFSA has established that the organisation is not registered with the AIFC and does not hold a valid licence to provide financial services. Therefore, its activities are contrary to the centre’s regulatory provisions”, the committee reported.
At the same time, AFSA recommends that Kazakh citizens under no circumstances enter into business relations with this company, nor send or transfer money to any party.
Earlier, it was reported that the Astana Criminal Court had convicted two residents of the capital for illegal business activity without a licence and registration with the AIFC. As explained by the court, the fraudsters, acting in prior conspiracy, unlawfully engaged in the exchange of USDT on the Binance platform for two years and earned more than 7 billion tenge.
