Former deputy of the Aktobe maslikhat Saniya Muratova, who lost her driving licence last year for driving under the influence of alcohol, has become a member of the Aktobe region public council.
According to the publication «Diapazon», the public council has broad powers, and its aim is to express the views of civil society on matters of public importance.
"The public council also has many tasks; its members must represent the interests and opinions of the public when discussing and making decisions by authorities at the republican and local levels, and ensure oversight and transparency in the work of central executive bodies, akimats, and the quasi-public sector," the statement reads.
It is noted that a member of the public council must not have an unspent criminal record and must not be registered with a psychiatrist. It is chaired by former Majilis candidate Tattygul Talaeva.
In September last year, deputy Muratova violated traffic rules while driving a Lexus under the influence of alcohol. Police officers stopped the 53-year-old woman's car and, when checking her documents, smelled alcohol. A test also confirmed that she was indeed intoxicated.
Later, the administrative case against Muratova was heard in court without the defendant present. As a result, the ex-deputy was banned from driving for 7 years. She later reappeared and received 15 days of administrative arrest.
It will be recalled that in January this year, a video was sent to the FBRK bot showing a blogger exposing Anti-Corruption Service officer Syrym Yesbosynov driving while intoxicated. He then called the police and ensured the matter was handled according to the law.
In the end, Yesbosynov was tried for refusing to undergo a medical examination to determine alcohol consumption. As a result, he was banned from driving for 8 years.
In July, a police officer in the Aktobe region, while driving under the influence of alcohol, hit a married couple. The husband and wife died. Initially, the officer tried to flee the scene of the accident but later surrendered.
In September, it was reported that the son of the director of LLP «Avtopark» Meirzhan Undirgenov - Bekzhan Sagidullayev, while under the influence of alcohol, was indirectly responsible for running over a police officer.
