An employee of the temporary detention centre (IVS) in the Enbekshikazakh district of the Almaty region was dismissed over a video involving suspects in the Sherzat Polat case.
According to Zakon.kz citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the detainees were filmed by an IVS employee on a personal phone. He was dismissed on negative grounds with the loss of his special rank.
"In total, for gross violation of official discipline and inadequate control, 16 managers and employees have been held to strict disciplinary responsibility, up to and including dismissal from their posts through disciplinary proceedings, including the head of the IVS," the ministry's statement said.
It is noted that following the incident, additional video surveillance was installed at the facility. Meanwhile, police have initiated a criminal case.
Recall that earlier, a video from the IVS in the Almaty region was circulated online. The footage shows suspects in the murder of Sherzat Polat from Talgar celebrating a birthday.
In the video, the arrested individuals play music using the voice assistant 'Alisa', blow out candles on a cake, drink beverages, and dance. In addition, at least two mobile phones are visible in the frame.
