The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan (MIA) has reported on an international special operation against members of a transnational organised criminal group (OCG) across the territory of three states. During the operation, suspected members of the criminal structure were detained, and the investigation into a number of episodes is ongoing.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE SPECIAL OPERATION
According to Polisia.kz, the operation was carried out by the MIA in cooperation with the law enforcement agencies of Georgia and Turkey following the intensification of joint work that began as a result of visits by a Kazakh delegation led by the Minister of Internal Affairs to Georgia, Turkey and Azerbaijan.
As reported by a representative of the Department for Combating Organised Crime of the MIA, KuanDyk Alpys, the detentions of members of the transnational OCG took place in stages across the territory of three states.
WHICH CRIMES ARE BEING INVESTIGATED
The reason for the joint work was the investigation into the murder of a citizen of Kazakhstan, Ismailov, committed in Istanbul. It is reported that thanks to the cooperation of the law enforcement agencies of the three countries, two alleged perpetrators of the crime were detained.
During the investigation, according to the MIA, the motive for the crime was established, as well as the alleged organiser and mastermind of the murder. According to the agency, they are representatives of the transnational criminal milieu and are on the international wanted list.
WHAT DETENTIONS HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT IN KAZAKHSTAN
The information obtained during the investigation also helped to solve other serious crimes allegedly committed by members of the transnational OCG on the territory of Kazakhstan.
In Almaty, one of the alleged perpetrators of an attempted murder of a city resident, committed in August 2025, was detained. The agency reported that the pistol used in the crime had been seized, the investigation was completed, and the criminal case had been sent to court.
Furthermore, in Almaty, a group of individuals was detained who are charged with involvement in several attacks using weapons.
WHAT WAS REPORTED ABOUT THE INVESTIGATION
According to KuanDyk Alpys, the investigation believes that the purpose of committing these crimes was to form a network of influence over the businesses of certain representatives of diaspora groups using elements of criminal ideology.
Also, on the territory of Georgia, individuals have been detained who, according to the MIA, are linked to transnational criminal structures and may be involved in the commission of a number of serious crimes.
The MIA noted that the collection of evidence for all established episodes is ongoing, and all involved persons are being identified. In addition, work is underway to bring the alleged organiser of the group to justice in accordance with the law.
