The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation has sent audit materials on the water sector of the Zhambyl Region to the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to the ministry's press service, to combat the illegal use of water resources, the department's internal audit conducted an inspection of the branch of «Kazvodkhoz» in the Zhambyl Region. As a result, the branch director and the head of the Shu-Talas Basin Inspection were brought to disciplinary responsibility.

«For further review of the identified violations, the audit materials have been sent to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan», the statement reads.

It is noted that a previously conducted audit in the Zhambyl Region revealed about 10 instances of illegal water use, as well as violations during the conclusion of contracts with farmers for the supply of irrigation water.

«All violators and senior officials who break the law will be held accountable. We will strengthen control over the use of water resources. To this end, amendments to the current legislation are being proposed», said the head of the ministry, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov.

At the same time, it became known that earlier, based on inspections by the Supreme Audit Chamber, 5 senior officials of «Kazvodkhoz» were held accountable.

Let us recall that at the beginning of the year, the FBRK editorial staff reported that the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation intended to conduct an inspection of the activities of the state enterprises «Kazvodkhoz» and «Nurinsky Group Water Supply». The editorial staff obtained information that an audit of «Nurinsky Group Water Supply» revealed violations in public procurement

As we have learned, the inspection showed that the general director of the enterprise, Gamzat Sagandykov, accepted an incomplete construction project. The damage to the state amounted to more than 40.5 million tenge.
