The chairman of the internal state audit committee (ISAC) Yerzhan Mynzhasarov said that since the beginning of the year in the Almaty region, department employees have conducted 465 electronic audits worth 170.2 billion tenge and implemented 758 measures aimed at preventing corruption.

According to the press service of ISAC, experts identified cases of unfinished work and a lack of assets.

“As a result of the analysis of payments by state organisations, numerous cases of unfinished construction work worth up to 11 billion tenge were identified, as well as instances of missing assets worth 15 billion tenge and the acceptance of goods that did not meet technical requirements”, the statement said.

Recall that in August, the Supreme Audit Chamber (SAC) completed an audit of pricing in the construction sector, the results of which showed that the total volume of construction work in Kazakhstan over the past year reached 7.6 trillion tenge, an increase of 21% compared to 2022.

At that time, auditors in this sector identified financial violations totalling 1.3 billion tenge, ineffective planning and use of budget funds amounting to more than 14.2 billion tenge, as well as economic losses and lost profits of 530 million tenge.

In July, the audit commission conducted a state audit of the effectiveness of funds allocated for the development of engineering and communication infrastructure in the outskirts of Astana. The list included relevant budget programmes totalling 21.4 billion tenge. Following the inspection, experts identified financial violations of 1.4 billion tenge, unspent budget funds in the amount of 3 billion tenge, as well as the ineffective use of 5 billion tenge.
