In Astana, law enforcement officers seized mobile hardware complexes SIM-box from a converted car interior. The devices could have been used by phone scammers.

According to the press service of the capital's prosecutor's office, criminals use SIM-boxes to send phishing messages, make mass calls, and also register accounts on various online platforms with fake numbers.
Thus, Astana police officers detained a 'KIA' car driven by a Ukrainian citizen, during an inspection of which two SIM-boxes with 128 slots were seized from the interior.
As reported, the devices were located in the converted interior of the vehicle. Among other things, law enforcement officers seized 50 SIM cards from various mobile operators and a Wi-Fi router.
In connection with this incident, Astana prosecutors have initiated a pre-trial investigation under Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan “unlawful use of software that allows changing the identification code of a subscriber device”.
A pre-trial restraint measure in the form of custody has been selected for the suspect. His involvement in internet fraud is being checked. The car was placed in a municipal impound lot.
Let us recall that in February, cyber police officers of the East Kazakhstan Region police department identified a network of scammers in Ust-Kamenogorsk. At their place of residence, law enforcement officers seized 22 SIM-box devices, which contained 489 SIM cards from mobile operators. Police also found 452 USB internet modems, 13 computers, 4 routers, and one laptop.
