Recently, residents of Kazakhstan encountered issues accessing certain websites. As it became known, a large-scale DDoS attack was carried out on the services of the Kazakhstani cloud provider PS Cloud Services.

For reference: A DDoS attack involves sending a large number of requests to a web resource, which can result in the resource ceasing to function – a "denial of service" or DoS (Denial-of-service).

According to CMN.KZ, hackers attacked the website hosting service. The attack affected the website of the Corruption Investigation Bureau Foundation - fbrk.kz, as well as the websites Bluescreen.kz, Informburo.kz, the portal Kompra.kz and others.

"On 5 February, we faced a large-scale wave-like DDoS attack on our infrastructure. The actions of the intruders affected the following services: cloud servers, object storage, the Virtuozzo Application Platform, VPS hosting, and website hosting", the company stated.

It is noted that the attack lasted from 16:50 on 5 February until 01:00 on 6 February.

"During this time, our team repelled the waves of attacks and mitigated their consequences. At 01:00, the full functionality of the services was restored", the company added.
