The Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) has identified a group of individuals who illegally registered vehicles from distant foreign countries.

According to the FMA press service, between June and August 2021, the suspects illegally carried out initial registration for more than 150 trucks in Pavlodar region

“They used fake receipts for payment of the initial registration fee and entered deliberately false information into the information system, which led to the avoidance of payment for the initial registration and the recycling fee, causing damage to the state totalling more than 1.5 billion tenge”, the statement says.

By court order, all illegally registered vehicles were seized, and preventive measures in the form of “remand in custody” and “house arrest” were imposed on the suspects.

Earlier, sentences were handed down in Astana in a criminal case concerning the illegal registration of foreign cars. There were 32 people in the dock. From 2021 to 2022, the defendants illegally registered 312 cars. In addition, they illegally processed the paperwork for 73 right-hand drive and 77 left-hand drive cars that were not brought into Kazakhstan.

It was also reported that the FMA in Kostanay region is conducting a pre-trial investigation into the registration of 83 heavy goods vehicles in 2020-23 without payment of the initial registration fee. The damage to the state amounted to 591 million tenge.

Furthermore, it was reported that in Akmola region in 2023, employees of the Specialised Service Centre (SpetsTsON) were exposed for the illegal registration of trucks. The unlawful actions were carried out over two years.
