In Kazakhstan, during the first ten days of July 2026, police officers seized more than 121 kg of synthetic drugs. In the same period, law enforcement agencies identified 187 drug-related offences.
WHAT RESULTS HAVE BEEN RECORDED
According to Polisia.kz, the operations were carried out as part of the preventive operational campaign ‘Karasora – 2026’, implemented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
The MIA Committee on Combating Drug Crime, together with regional departments, identified 187 drug-related offences in the first ten days of July, of which 86 were classified as criminal misdemeanours, and 101 as crimes.
Over 10 days, 46 cases of drug sales were prevented, 4 cases of drug possession on an especially large scale were uncovered, 40 cases of cultivating drug-containing plants were recorded, and 4 cases of drug smuggling were registered.
WHAT POLICE OFFICERS SEIZED
From illegal circulation, 266 kg of precursors and 760 kg of narcotic drugs were seized, including more than 121 kg of synthetic drugs.
Separately, the detention of a 26-year-old resident of the capital, Astana, was reported. According to the MIA, during a personal search and inspection of his rented accommodation, 227 packets containing the synthetic drug α-PVP, with a total weight of 245 grams, were found. According to the ministry, the man is suspected of intending to sell the drugs within the city.
WHAT PREVENTIVE MEASURES ARE BEING TAKEN
According to the MIA, particular attention is being paid to preventive work with senior schoolchildren and students during the summer holidays.
During the first ten days of July, 145 preventive measures were carried out, involving approximately 6,000 teenagers and young people.
MIA COMMENTARY
As stated by the Deputy Chairman of the MIA Committee on Combating Drug Crime, Yeldar Abdikenov, the ministry continues its work aimed at ensuring public safety and preventing young people from becoming involved in the illegal drug trade.
