A sentence has been handed down in Turkestan to the chief specialist and secretary of the court session of the Kentau City Court, D. Begaliyev.

According to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, he was found guilty of fraudulently embezzling 7.3 million tenge from a participant in civil proceedings.

The investigation established that Begaliyev obtained the money under the pretext of assisting in reaching a favourable decision in a case concerning the division of matrimonial property.

The court sentenced Begaliyev to 4 years and 6 months' imprisonment with a lifelong ban from holding positions in the civil service and quasi-public sector entities.

Recall that in October, it was reported that a judge of the inter-district administrative offences court in Almaty, Dastan Slyamkulov, was detained. He is suspected of repeatedly accepting bribes. Additionally, five employees of the Almaty Police Department, three of whom are officers of the Zhetysu district, are suspected of complicity.

In November, the chairman of the Uralsk City Court, Ruslan Zhumagulov, was detained while receiving a bribe. It was reported that the bribe of 1.5 million tenge was intended to secure a favourable decision to replace a convicted person's criminal sentence with a fine.

In mid-December, the Anti-Corruption Agency completed its investigation into a judge of the Inter-District Criminal Court of Shymkent. A number of individuals are also implicated in the case. They are suspected of fraud and inciting the defendant's spouse to offer a bribe. The bribe of 110 million tenge was intended to secure a lenient sentence.

Later, in Petropavlovsk, the chairman of the specialised inter-district economic court of the North Kazakhstan Region was detained while receiving a bribe.
