In the Zhambyl region, the launch of the Shatyrkol Enrichment Plant has been tested. It is expected to produce around 100,000 tonnes of copper concentrate per year. The plant is scheduled to become fully operational by the end of October.
The regional governor Yerbol KARASHUKEEV and the chairman of the board of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, Nurakhmet Nuriev, visited the plant. The head of the region noted the uniqueness of the new factory. Nuriev, for his part, stated that production would be as safe and environmentally friendly as possible.
The implementation of the Shatyrkol Enrichment Plant cost investors 94 billion tenge. The plant is expected to process 1.2 million tonnes of ore per year and produce 98,600 tonnes of copper concentrate. Raw materials will be mined at the Shatyrkol and Zhaisan deposits.
According to Karashukeev, 19 investment projects worth 228.4 billion tenge are planned for implementation this year, which will provide more than 1,400 jobs. Within the framework of the Shatyrkol Enrichment Plant project, it is intended to create around 400 new jobs, 60% of which are promised to residents of the region.
From 2024 to 2028, it is planned to implement 70 investment projects worth 2.5 trillion tenge in the Zhambyl region. 125 enterprises are already operating in the region's mining industry. It is noted that over the last six months, products worth 54.2 billion tenge have been produced in the sector.
