Construction company «RAMS» accuses journalists from the publication «Aq Zhaiyq» of disseminating false information. According to media reports, the reason for this was a statement by Mazhilis deputy Yerlan Sairov, which the journalists cited in their publication.
«By disseminating false information that defames our name and business reputation, you have violated our rights, for which we are entitled to hold you accountable», reads a letter from a representative of «RAMS» to the publication «Aq Zhaiyq».
It is reported that the Mazhilis member accused the company «RAMS» of not returning land to students on the territory of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University, and called its beneficiaries representatives of the «Old Kazakhstan». The publication «Aq Zhaiyq» then prepared a piece citing the deputy's words.
«The company is not the owner of the specified land plot and has no connection whatsoever to construction on the specified land plot», responded a representative of «RAMS».
The Atyrau branch of the Union of Journalists, for its part, stated that under the law, responsibility for the accuracy of information lies with the primary source, which in this case is deputy Sairov.
Earlier, Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva sided with the journalists after representatives of the editorial boards of Dala news and Dala Inside appealed to her with a complaint.
The journalists reported that they are under intense pressure after publishing a series of articles about the activities of former Astana maslikhat deputy and owner of the construction company G-Park, Gabit Satmagambetov.
Balayeva then emphasised that the editorial board of Dala news had published an article with a retraction of previously published information, thereby fulfilling the media's obligation in accordance with current legislation.
