The Prosecutor's Office of the Almaty Region has uncovered a case of looting of confiscated property held at a specialised penalty parking lot.
According to the press service of the department, this concerns a «Volvo FH» tractor unit with a trailer, with a total value of over 100 million tenge. This vehicle was previously seized as part of administrative proceedings and was subject to confiscation in favour of the state.
However, while in storage at the parking lot, the tractor unit was dismantled and its components were stolen.
Furthermore, prosecutors uncovered a case of concealment of property subject to confiscation. As part of a criminal case, a «Mercedes E350» worth 8 million tenge was handed over for storage to the father of the suspect. Subsequently, the court ordered the confiscation of the car in favour of the state.
Despite this, the suspect's father evaded his storage obligations and concealed the vehicle.
“The identified violations have been referred to the pre-trial investigation bodies for a final procedural decision”, the department noted.
