The restaurant complex «Altyn-Saf», which was confiscated from the former mayor of Kostanay Akhmadbek Akhmetzhanov, is being sold for the second time on an electronic trading platform.

According to Informburo.kz, bids for the auction are being accepted until 13 November. The starting price for the complex with a total area of 1,558.4 m2 is 307.3 million tenge. It is noted that this is 61.84% lower than the previous price of 805.5 million tenge.

The property, which includes a recreation area and a café, is located on the Yekaterinburg – Almaty highway.

As it became known, in April 2016, Akhmadbek Akhmetzhanov was sentenced to 13 years in prison for bribery. In addition, his property was confiscated and he was banned from holding public office for life.

However, after an appeal, the sentence was reduced to 7 years and 6 months. At the same time, the former mayor was granted amnesty, which reduced the punishment to 4 years and 10 months. In 2019, Akhmetzhanov was released on parole, and the unserved portion of the sentence was replaced with a fine.

It is reported that one of the former mayor's confiscated assets is the «Metropol» restaurant, which was transferred to state ownership. This building now houses a branch of the 'Government for Citizens'.

In 2017, another of Akhmetzhanov's properties – the «Monolit» shopping centre, valued at 87.4 million tenge, was sold for 40.5 million tenge.
