The younger brother of the wanted former head of the transport prosecutor’s office, Maksat Duisenov — Askhat — owns expensive real estate in Dubai worth billions of tenge.
According to the Telegram channel 'Access to the Sea', leaked data shows he owns two apartments — in the prestigious Jumeirah Beach Residence area and in the Jumeirah Gate Tower skyscraper.

One of them is an apartment measuring 182.6 m² with three bedrooms on the 39th floor, the second is 107.8 m² with two bedrooms on the 47th floor. Taking into account the market value and parking spaces, Askhat Duisenov’s assets in this complex are estimated at around $5 million (2.7 billion tenge).
However, he is not known to have any significant business. On the contrary, he has been involved in failed real estate deals in the capital, had tax debts, and has a criminal past.
In 2007, the Almaty police put Askhat Duisenov on the wanted list on suspicion of kidnapping and establishing an organised criminal group. It is reported that his name was mentioned in the high-profile 'Nurbankgate' case, linked to Rakhat Aliyev, as well as the kidnapping and murder of bank executives. Although Askhat Duisenov was not officially a defendant in court, the media reported that it was he who showed investigators the burial sites of the kidnap victims.
Later, his name surfaced in civil proceedings: together with his sister Shynar, he was involved in shared-equity construction of the 'Korgalzhynskiy Kvartal' residential complex in Astana, but ended up a defrauded equity holder.
Despite such circumstances, Askhat Duisenov has been found to own apartments in Dubai, the source of the funds for which raises questions. According to media reports, in the summer of 2024 he was arrested again on suspicion of money laundering and moving capital abroad.
Meanwhile, his brother, the former transport prosecutor Maksat Duisenov, who was described as the right-hand man of ex-prosecutor general Kairat Kozhamzharov, remains on the international wanted list. It has not been reported under which article the case against the former official is being investigated, but some journalists claim that the investigation may be linked to instances of torture.
