The head of the public association "Шаңырақ" Almazbek Sadyrbay has been detained in the Almaty region. He is suspected of creating fictitious agricultural cooperatives as part of a group in the Balkhash, Enbekshikazakh, Kegen, Raiymbek and Uygur districts.
According to the press service of the Agency for Financial Monitoring (AFM), the cooperatives were created to illegally obtain subsidies for the insemination of breeding stock of small ruminants and to compensate for feed costs.
It has become known that the perpetrators recruited peasant farms which, contrary to the law, did not have agricultural land. They also used the digital signatures of the heads of agricultural cooperatives without their knowledge. In this way, they stole over 1.2 billion tenge.
Almazbek Sadyrbay was detained, and his female accomplice was placed under house arrest by court order.
Recall that in June 2022, it was reported that members of the association of legal entities (ALE) "Association of Agricultural Production Cooperatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan", whose director at the time was Almazbek Sadyrbayev, were suspected of fraud. Specifically, they were accused of inflating sheep numbers and passing off other people's livestock as their own.
