The case of the former Vice-Minister of Culture and Sport has been sent to court

The Anti-Corruption Agency has completed its investigation into the former Vice Minister of Culture and Sport, Yerlan Kozhagpanov, and the management of the contracting organisation.



According to the agency's press service, they are accused of abusing their official positions and embezzling more than 1 billion tenge. On 13 December 2024, the Prosecutor General's Office referred the criminal case to court.

For context, the detention of the former Deputy Minister of Culture and Sport, Yerlan Kozhagpanov, was reported in March 2024.

At the time, it was reported that he was suspected of committing a serious corruption offence. The suspect was placed in a pre-trial detention centre in Almaty.
