In the Zhambyl region, officers of the Border Service of the National Security Committee detained a large batch of contraband cigarettes.
According to the press service of the department, on 12 September, during an inspection of a freight train at a section of the state border, 890,980 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps were discovered.
The cargo was being transported without the necessary accompanying documents under the guise of construction materials.
The preliminary value of the seized cigarettes is estimated at more than 600 million tenge. The carriage containing the contraband goods was detached, and procedural actions have been initiated.
For context, earlier in the Abai region, a large-scale event took place to destroy 4.5 million units of tobacco products with a total value of over 1.5 billion tenge.
