The carcasses of saiga antelopes and 455 kg of sturgeon were seized in the Mangystau Region.

Law enforcement agencies in the Mangistau region have uncovered the illegal storage of saiga carcasses and horns in the village of Turysh, Beineu district.

According to Polisia.kz, during a search of a house's courtyard, police discovered and seized 9 saiga carcasses, 30 horns, ammunition, and other material evidence.

A criminal case has been registered regarding this incident. The seized items have been sent for expert examination. A written undertaking not to leave the place of residence has been chosen as a preventive measure for the suspect.

At the same time, in the coastal zone "Ashchymuryn" of the Tupkaragan district in the Mangistau region, prosecutors detained a man with a large batch of sturgeon fish, for which all Caspian countries have imposed a moratorium on fishing.

According to the press service of the regional prosecutor's office, fish with a total weight of 455 kg was discovered in the boot of a Toyota Land Cruiser 100.

The investigation into the case under Article 339 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Illegal handling of rare and endangered animals") has been assigned to the police department of the Tupkaragan district.

Previously, in the West Kazakhstan region, a resident of the Bayterek district was sentenced for the illegal acquisition, storage, and transportation of 291 saiga horns. The damage to the state amounted to 429,079,500 tenge.

The man was sentenced to 7 years in prison, but the term was later reduced by one-fifth. The defendant was also ordered to pay the state compensation for damages in the amount of 429,079,500 tenge and a state fee of 12,872,385 tenge.
