Submitted by Вера Александрова on

At the border post Bakhty in the Abai region, a pedestrian crossing across the border was officially opened, marking an important step in strengthening ties between Kazakhstan and China. The new development will make it easier for local residents and tourists to cross the border, and will also help promote trade.

According to the rules, citizens may transport up to 25 kg of cargo across the border once a month. Passenger transport is only permitted in vehicles with a special permit for international transport.

Representatives from both countries took part in the official opening. From Kazakhstan, the akim of the Makanshy district Daulet Koygeldin, the head of the state revenue department of the Abai region Ruslan Daniyarov, and the head of the local unit of the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Colonel Askhat Akhmetov, were present. The Chinese side was represented by officials of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

It is noted that the modernisation of the terminals at the post is ongoing, which promises to make the crossing process even more convenient in the future. Representatives of China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region expressed their readiness for further cooperation within the framework of this initiative.

The opening of the border for pedestrians is a step towards integration and improving ties between Kazakhstan and China. Despite certain restrictions, the new format of the post's operation will significantly simplify movement across the border. The ongoing modernisation and support from both sides point to the prospects for further development of the border infrastructure.
