Journalists reminded the chairman of the board of Kazakhtelecom JSC Bagdat Mussin of his statement, made when he was Minister of Digital Development, that the internet in Astana is better than in Tokyo.
According to the Telegram channel “They’ve already come for us”, he was asked: where does Kazakhstan currently rank in terms of internet speed, and has Tokyo overtaken us?
“You know, it doesn’t matter what rankings say or how we position ourselves; the main thing is to work from where we are today. That is, if the state of mobile communications today does not satisfy the residents of the capital, then we simply need to develop and strive to be better than we were yesterday”, Mussin replied.
Incidentally, in the Speedtest ranking as of July this year, Kazakhstan is in 56th place for mobile internet speed, while Japan is in 58th place.
At the same time, Tengrinews reports that on the sidelines of a joint session of the Parliamentary chambers, Bagdat Mussin stated that Kazakhtelecom is working on improving communication quality. He promised to announce the results at a briefing in September.
“There are three mobile operators operating in Kazakhstan. We, of course, are responsible for the mobile operators that belong to Kazakhtelecom. And I will bear that responsibility”, Mussin said.
He noted that the management and board of directors are responsible for the quality of the Kcell operator’s service.
“As a group of companies of Kazakhtelecom JSC, we certainly manage, but we do not interfere operationally. In any case, since it all falls under the Kazakhtelecom JSC group of companies, I do not absolve myself of responsibility. In any case, we need to correct the mistakes that have been made. And the problems that exist. We understand that everything must develop, everything must take its course”, Mussin added.
