Head of the Akmola Regional Territorial Inspectorate of the Veterinary Control and Supervision Committee Manat Abdrakhmanov stated that the cause of the deaths of cows and calves in the village of Dongulagaš, Zerenda district was feed poisoning.

According to the press service of the regional akimat, the situation regarding the livestock deaths in Dongulagaš is under control. The results of laboratory tests did not reveal any particularly dangerous infectious diseases in the animals.

According to Abdrakhmanov, the livestock deaths are linked to unsupervised grazing.

“The livestock grazes unattended; the animals go to rubbish dumps, where they pick up waste hazardous to their health,” the statement reads.

It is noted that laboratory tests showed pesticides in the samples. The diagnosis is feed poisoning.

The head of the inspectorate assured that the situation in other nearby villages is stable, and no similar cases have been recorded.

Recall that earlier it was reported that in the village of Dongulagaš, at least 28 cows and calves had died, and owners were forced to slaughter another nine animals. Local residents reported that the animals “died in terrible agony”

The cows and calves would first abruptly refuse food and water, after which they would develop severe, debilitating diarrhoea, which continued until death. The disease was recorded on seven farms, and completely healthy livestock remained on only two holdings.
