Another mass poisoning of children in Mangystau region

In the village of Kyzylsay, which is under the jurisdiction of the city administration of Zhanaozen in the Mangystau region, a mass poisoning of children from one of the kindergartens has occurred.
 
According to Lada.kz, 100 children suffered food poisoning, and some of them went to hospital.

In turn, the press service of the regional health department partially confirmed the information. According to them, only 37 people sought medical attention.

"On 31/01/25 at 20:13, an emergency call was received from residents of the village of Kyzylsay, Zhanaozen, complaining of abdominal pain. All were examined and checked by the ambulance team. Of the 37 people examined, four were hospitalised (1 adult, 3 children). The rest were sent home for outpatient treatment", the statement says.

The department noted that the kindergarten has now been closed. The relevant authorities are conducting an investigation.

To recall, on 6 September, 462 primary school pupils in the Beshshoky residential area of the village of Mangystau, Munaily district, Mangystau region were mass poisoned after lunch in the canteen.

Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova said that 462 schoolchildren sought medical help. 96 of them were hospitalised. Education Minister Gani Beisembayev ordered inspections to be carried out in all schools in the country.

Meanwhile, it became known that the school canteen was run by IE "Shakenova D". It was reported that the company's annual revenue is estimated at 2.5 billion tenge. Most contracts with the company were concluded by the single-source method.

On 16 September, specialists from the laboratory of the National Centre of Expertise of the Mangystau region identified gross sanitary violations in the school's canteen.

Intestinal bacteria were found in 20% of the swab and smear samples taken from the school canteen. Staphylococcus was detected in six canteen employees. Furthermore, a dishwasher and a food server were found to be carriers of dysentery.

In October, Education Minister Gani Beisembayev stated that following the incident, the head of the Mangystau region's education department resigned, and the deputy governor of the region received a reprimand. Additionally, the school terminated its contract with the catering company.

In January of this year, four employees of the aforementioned school canteen were convicted for working without undergoing a medical examination. The defendants confessed to purchasing fake medical certificates for 5,000 tenge.
