The Mangystau Regional Territorial Inspectorate of Forestry and Wildlife has discovered the carcasses of dead birds in the coastal zones of Fort-Shevchenko, the villages of Kyzylozen, Atash and Bautino in the Tupkaragan District.

According to the Kazinform International News Agency, staff from the territorial inspectorate, the fisheries inspectorate, and the environmental police surveyed coastal areas and found 13 dead birds — including ducks, cormorants and gulls.

As specialists clarify, it was not possible to obtain samples for laboratory testing because the bodies had already begun to decompose.

The inspectorate has sent a notice to the akimat regarding the need to remove and dispose of the remains. Monitoring of the coastal zone is ongoing.

Earlier, staff from the laboratory and analytical control department of the Mangystau Regional Ecology Department conducted on-site investigations following reports from residents about dead seals found on the sea coast of Bautino in the Tupkaragan District.

During that survey, specialists found 112 carcasses of Caspian seals. The causes of their death have not yet been determined.
