In Astana, there are no plans to transfer the mansion, previously owned by former KNB chairman and ex-prime minister Karim Massimov, into communal ownership. This was reported by the capital's Asset and Public Procurement Department.

According to Informburo.kz, the mansion, located in the Karootkel microdistrict of the Nura district, was seized as part of the asset recovery procedure for social needs.

In April, the Returned Asset Management Company (RAMC) reported that it had received an official request from the city akimat to transfer the property. However, the akimat later stated that the matter of accepting the building onto the city's balance sheet is not being considered

"The Asset and Public Procurement Department of Astana city announces that currently, the transfer of the aforementioned building into communal ownership is not planned," the official response stated.

The mansion has been put up for auction three times. The last auction took place on 18 April with a starting price of 1.6 billion tenge. Previously, the house was put up for sale for 1.8 billion tenge, but no buyers were found. There is also discussion of the possibility of selling luxury items from the mansion separately, as previously stated by the head of RAMC, Kuanyshbek Mukash.

It is worth recalling that in April 2023, Karim Massimov was sentenced to 18 years in prison for high treason, attempting a forcible seizure of power, abuse of power and exceeding official authority.
