Vietnamese airline Sovico Group plans to offer to take the airports of Turkistan and Kyzylorda into trust management.

According to Kursiv.media, Vice-Minister of Transport Maksat Kaliakparov noted that this will happen after Sovico completes the deal with JSC «NWH «Samruk-Kazyna» for the purchase of «Qazaq Air». In October, the Chairman of the Management Board of the national holding company Nurlan Zhakupov said that the deal should be completed before the end of 2024.

The size of the stake the Vietnamese holding company is seeking was not disclosed. However, «Samruk-Kazyna» noted that it could reach 100%.

«We have a large anchor investor, Sovico, as you know. They are coming in with their aircraft into Qazaq Air, and for this they plan to bring more than 20 planes here. To mobilise management, they have been offered two airports – Turkistan and Kyzylorda, and now the issue is about granting the right of trust management», said Kaliakparov.

According to him, the Ministry of Transport and international organisations will monitor compliance with requirements for the airports and other matters during the transfer of the airports.

«We attract investors who invest, who write a financial and economic model, who take a more detailed strategic approach, and they then present their vision for the next 5–10–15–20 years to the ministry. Yes, absolutely, they have been taken into account (the mistakes during the transfer of Almaty airport to investors), they have been corrected. There were mistakes, I admit that», the Vice-Minister assured.

Recall that in August, the government approved the transfer of 100% of shares of JSC «ATMA – Atyrau Airport and Transport» to the Qatari company «QazAir Investments LLC».

In November, the akimat of Kostanay region held a similar tender for transferring into trust management 49% of shares of JSC «International Airport «Kostanay» named after A. Baitursynov» for a period of five years with the option of subsequent purchase.

Furthermore, on 25 October the validity expired for the airfield certificates of Kostanay, which limited its use for the take-off and landing of civil aircraft.

A similar situation was observed at the airports of Astana city and the village of Urzhar, where the validity of the certificates expired on 24 December and 29 November respectively.

At the beginning of December, the Department of Finance of Pavlodar region put up for auction 49% of shares of JSC «Pavlodar Airport», which are intended to be transferred into trust management for three years with the option of further purchase. The starting price of the shares is 1 076 464 473 tenge
