The digital monitoring system helped the ministry of finance identify illegal payments and suspicious schemes in the public sector. This was announced by the head of the department, Madi Takiyev, at a government meeting.

According to Tengrinews.kz, cases have been recorded in district education departments of employees being paid salaries ranging from 30 to 65 million tenge per month, as well as bonuses exceeding 10 million tenge. These violations were uncovered using artificial intelligence (AI).

Takiyev noted that last year, AI helped identify risky payments totalling 307 billion tenge, and since the start of this year, a further 132 billion tenge.

According to the minister, digital analysis now covers not only education but also healthcare, culture, tourism and sport.

He noted that some organisations, despite not being financial institutions, used allocated funds for lending and placing them on deposits, earning income in the form of interest.

"A loan of 1 billion tenge obtained from the budget was placed on a deposit, which generated 80 million tenge in profit. Instances of repeatedly receiving subsidies have been recorded. For example, for the same livestock — totalling 808 million tenge," said Takiyev.

The minister stressed that strengthening digital control and developing AI auditing remain a priority for improving transparency and efficiency in the spending of state funds.

Let us recall that, based on the results of the first three quarters of this year, Kazakhstan's state budget revenues grew by 23.4%. In monetary terms, this amounts to approximately $40 billion (21.5 trillion tenge).

As reported by Finance Minister Madi Takiyev, the main contribution to this growth came from tax revenues, which accounted for over $28 billion (15 trillion tenge). He noted that this result was achieved with the help of artificial intelligence.
