A fire covering 1,650 hectares occurred in the Sarykobinsk forestry area of the Zhambyl region.
"On 4 June at approximately 16:20, a dry grass fire broke out in the territory of the Sarykobinsk forestry area of the KSU 'Merken Forestry and Wildlife Protection Institution', covering an area of 1,650 hectares", the regional akimat's press service reported.
It has become known that forestry workers are working at the scene (25 people, 3 tractors). Forestry workers (22 people, 7 tractors, 3 vehicles) and the Department of Emergency Situations (84 employees, 9 units of equipment) have also travelled to the incident site.
It is reported that the forestry area is located 160 km from the nearest settlement in the district.
The fire also spread to the territory of the T. Ryskulov district, with 3 teams, 16 people, and 5 units of equipment deployed to extinguish the fire.
Meanwhile, the founder of the FBK, Kirill Pavlov, reported on his Telegram channel a major fire in the Baiganin district of the Aktobe region.
"Something is burning in the Baiganin district of the Aktobe region. The area is about 30,000 hectares. Most likely shepherds are burning grass and reeds, but it might not be," the message states.
