The contractor who inflated the cost of building the water supply and sewerage system in Almaty will carry out additional works at their own expense worth 900 million tenge.
According to the press service of the Agency for Financial Monitoring (AFM), the Almaty Department of Energy and Water Supply is implementing a project worth 9.1 billion tenge. These funds were included by the designer, Kazakh SanTechProject LLP, when drawing up the design and estimate documentation (DED).
"As a result of monitoring, it was established that the distance over which soil is transported is 30 km shorter than stipulated by the project. Furthermore, the volume of construction materials used was overstated by 1.5 thousand tonnes," the statement said.
Meanwhile, the agency found that the facility is only 93% complete, despite 8.4 billion out of 9.1 billion tenge having been spent.
In connection with this, the Almaty Akimat increased the scope of work for the general contractor, Sapa Kuryls 2007 LLP, by 900 million tenge, for work not envisaged by the project.
