Anti-corruption volunteers prevented the irrational use of more than 7 billion tenge.

According to the press service of Anticor, following the intervention of a volunteer, the Akimat of Uralsk cancelled the procurement of video conferencing equipment worth 45 million tenge, as the market value of similar equipment is only around 4 million tenge.

In another case, volunteers in Shymkent uncovered a duplication of procurement for organising summer holidays for orphaned children by the education department and several schools. As a result, the activists prevented the inefficient expenditure of 78 million tenge

In Turkestan, volunteers established a fact of unjustified tariff increases in the calculation of heating energy.

"Despite the fact that metering devices are installed in multi-storey residential buildings, charges were calculated based on square metres, which led to an increase in the cost of heating. As a result of the measures taken, a recalculation was made for more than 2,000 residents of 32 multi-storey residential buildings totalling around 13 million tenge", the statement reads.

In Astana, volunteers inspected the condition of 30 apartments issued under the "Rental Housing for Working Youth" programme.

"Following the inspection, contractors rectified numerous shortcomings, such as the absence of radiators and electrical sockets, as well as unfinished construction and installation works and other defects", Anticor reported.
