In the Beimbet Mailin district of Kostanay region, the chief specialist of a rural district akimat was convicted of embezzling nearly 5 million tenge.

According to the press service of the Kostanay courts, the defendant, using her official position, from January 2021 to March 2024, monthly compiled payroll sheets for state institution employees and inflated the amounts.

It is reported that she unjustifiably transferred 4.7 million tenge to her own bank card account under the guise of salary.

“Thus, M. misappropriated the state institution's funds entrusted to her, causing material damage on a large scale”, the statement reads.

It emerged that the defendant pleaded guilty and fully compensated the damage. Nevertheless, the court sentenced her to 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment, with a lifetime ban from holding positions in the civil service.

“Considering that M. has two young children, the court, on the basis of Part 1 of Article 74 of the Criminal Code, postponed the execution of the imposed custodial sentence for 3 years”, the verdict stated.

Previously, the court of the Beimbet Mailin district announced a verdict against officials of Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ) in the Kostanay region. They were found guilty of stealing diesel fuel and funds allocated for the repair of a railway crane, totalling 12 million tenge

It was also reported that in the settlement of Tobol in the Beimbet Mailin district, local residents were forced to pay inflated tariffs for heat supply, water supply, and wastewater services provided by the Municipal State Enterprise 'Tobol'.
