The Stepnogorsk City Court of Akmola Region has sentenced a cashier and the director of a second-tier bank branch, who stole 255 million tenge in one month.
According to the press service of the Regional Court, from November to December 2022, the cashier, following the instructions of the branch head, regularly took sums of 1 million, 3 million, and 8 million tenge from the bank's vault and handed them over to him. It is reported that the director gave the cashier bags and a backpack for the money in advance, then collected it and carried it out of the bank building.
The defendants' guilt was proven by a revision act, an audit report, an expert conclusion on the shortage of funds, witness testimony, the defendants' own confessions, recordings from the bank's CCTV cameras, and other case materials.
As a result, the court sentenced both the director and the cashier to 7 years' imprisonment, with a ban on holding financially responsible positions in organisations and institutions for 5 years.
It was also reported that employees of the bank branch were invited to the reading of the sentence.
