A resident of Kostanay, involved in a road traffic accident which resulted in damage to two vehicles, has been awarded more than 2 million tenge from the city's housing and utilities department. The court established that the accident was caused by missing road signs.

According to Ratel.kz, the accident occurred in Kostanay in September last year. Two vehicles sustained mechanical damage.

"The court established that the said road traffic accident, which caused damage to the vehicles, occurred as a result of the housing and utilities department failing to comply with legislative requirements regarding the maintenance of road signs, namely the absence of road signs 2.1 'Main Road' and 2.4 'Give Way'. For this violation, the housing and utilities department was brought to administrative responsibility", the press service of the Kostanay region court reported.

As a result, the Kostanay city court issued a ruling, according to which the housing and utilities department of the Kostanay akimat was obliged to pay the plaintiff the cost of vehicle repair work amounting to more than 1.7 million tenge, as well as the loss of the vehicle's market value amounting to more than 400,000 tenge.

In turn, the housing and utilities department tried to appeal the court's decision. Officials from the state body requested a new ruling rejecting the claim in full. However, after reviewing the appeal, the appellate court upheld the original court decision.
