A member of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Sabila Mustafina, has reported that 15.5 billion tenge will be requested from the budget for the nationwide referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan.
According to Bes.media, this amount includes the organisation and running of the referendum at 78 overseas polling stations located in 63 countries.
"In the estimate, 71% of the total amount is for remuneration of members of the commissions of all bodies – more than 700,000 people", the CEC member added.
The remaining funds are planned to be allocated to information support, the production of ballot papers, printed materials, stationery, and everything else necessary for organising the work of polling stations.
It is noted that the final decision on the allocation of funds will be made by the government.
Recall that at the end of June, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that the referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan would take place in the autumn of this year.
The President has repeatedly noted that the construction of a nuclear power plant is an especially important economic and political issue. The head of state assured that the final decision on the construction of the nuclear power plant would be in the hands of the people.
The day before, in his annual address to the people of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that the nationwide referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant would take place on 6 October this year.
