Writers met with students in Atyrau as part of Book Week

A literary meeting with the participation of well-known Kazakh writers took place in Atyrau, aimed at developing an interest in reading among young people. The event was part of a programme timed to coincide with National Book Day, and brought together students and authors in an open dialogue format.



HOW THE MEETING WENT

The meeting took place at the S. Utebayev Atyrau University of Oil and Gas. The writers discussed the importance of literature in shaping personality with the students, highlighting the role of reading in broadening horizons. Particular attention was paid to promoting national literature among young people.

The literary evening was organised in a free format, allowing participants to exchange opinions and ask questions of the authors. The topic of discussion was the initiative ‘Bеsқonaқ – кіtaрқa ғаshуқ еtу аmalу’, aimed at attracting interest in books.

The writers noted that fostering a reading culture remains an important task in modern society.





COMPETITION ON MOMYSHULY'S WORK

On the eve of the meeting, a competition was held among students on reading the work ‘Ushkan uya’ by Bauyrzhan Momyshuly. The winner was student Akpeil Nurauletova. The award was presented to her by poet Yerlan Zhunis, who wished her further success.

BOOK WEEK IN THE REGION

This year, National Book Day in the region is being held in the format of a week-long programme for the first time. It started with an open-air book exhibition, which was visited by around 300 city residents.

During the week, the following also took place:

  • a literary meeting ‘Кіtaр – dоstyқ ambassadory’;
  • the signing of a memorandum between four trading platforms and republican publishing houses.

CONCLUDING WITH A FESTIVAL

The series of events concludes with the ‘Кіtaр FEST’ festival, where more than 5,000 books from 9 publishing houses will be presented at reduced prices. The awarding of the best readers and book clubs is also planned.
