The RWB Group, which operates the Wildberries marketplace, has begun searching for warehouse space in Kazakhstan. According to sources, the company is considering leasing up to 100,000 sq m of warehouse space, and is also redistributing goods between logistics facilities following drone attacks on warehouses in Russia.
WHY THE COMPANY IS LOOKING FOR WAREHOUSES IN KAZAKHSTAN
According to the newspaper Kommersant, RWB has begun searching for vacant warehouse space in Kazakhstan. One source from the publication said the discussion involves around 100,000 sq m. Another interlocutor claims the company is prepared to lease all available vacant warehouse capacity in the country.
According to sources, the search for additional space is linked to efforts to secure part of the logistics infrastructure following drone attacks on the marketplace's warehouses in Russia.
WHAT THE COMPANY SAID
The press service of RWB said the company is carrying out routine work on building logistics facilities in all countries where it operates. In Almaty, construction of a warehouse complex with an area of more than 100,000 sq m is ongoing, and in Astana, a facility of 160,000 sq m is under construction, the commissioning of which, according to the company, is planned for next year.
The company also noted that key organisational efforts are focused on redistributing goods between different warehouses to improve the convenience of their turnover and the economic stability of partners.
THE STATE OF THE WAREHOUSE REAL ESTATE MARKET
According to market participants, finding a single vacant warehouse of 100,000 sq m in Kazakhstan is difficult. According to Stanislav Akhmedzyanov, managing partner at IBC Global, at the end of June 2026, the total volume of vacant space was around 130,000 sq m, but these are located in different cities.
According to market participants, the cost of warehouse rent in Kazakhstan is currently comparable to levels in Moscow and the Moscow Region, so relocating part of the logistics does not mean lower rental costs.
CONTEXT
Since 18 July, Wildberries warehouses in several regions of Russia have been subjected to attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Among the affected facilities are logistics complexes in Saint Petersburg, the Moscow Region, Crimea, the Tambov and Voronezh regions, as well as the Stavropol and Krasnodar territories.
