Три работника погибли на предприятиях КМГ в первом полугодии 2026 года

In the first half of 2026, three fatal accidents were registered at subsidiaries and associated companies of JSC NC KazMunayGas (KMG). The company did not disclose at which enterprises the incidents occurred or how many workers were affected.

WHAT HAPPENED

According to BES.media, citing a KMG report, three fatal accidents occurred at companies within the group during the first six months of 2026.

In addition, injuries involving temporary loss of working capacity were recorded within the group. Their number is not specified in the report.

WHAT CAUSES WERE CITED

The company cited violations of safety requirements during work performance and shortcomings in the organisation of the production process among the main causes of the incidents.

KMG reported that it investigated each case, established the immediate and systemic causes, and developed measures to prevent similar incidents.

WHAT MEASURES WERE TAKEN

KMG approved a Stop Road Accidents plan for 2026–2028 and conducted an unscheduled transport safety inspection. Specialists checked the technical condition of transport, drivers' compliance with work and rest regimes, the conduct of briefings and medical examinations, as well as the work of contractors.

In the Mangystau Region, the company plans to introduce the TUMAR system to reduce risks during well servicing and repair. Employees also use Qorgau cards to report hazardous working conditions.

HOW THE STATISTICS CHANGED

At the end of 2025, KMG reported one fatal case among group employees. At that time, the company separately disclosed data on fatalities among employees of contractor organisations — there were eight over the year.

In the published report for the first half of 2026, similar data on fatal cases among contractor employees is absent.

CONTEXT

The problem of industrial safety also affects other large companies in the country.

In August, two employees of JSC Kazakhtelecom died on 4 and 5 August during work with communications line poles in the Zhambyl and Kostanay regions. Both fatal incidents occurred within two days and were related to work on replacing or dismantling communications poles using crane-manipulator vehicles.

In September, in Aktau, a 33-year-old employee of JSC Kazakhtelecom died from an electric shock during work in the basement of a residential building.
