Police in the Bulandinsky district of the Akmola region have solved a series of thefts from a water supply infrastructure facility. According to the investigation, the suspects stole a diesel generator unit worth around 7 million tenge, and later — components for it worth over 400 thousand tenge.
HOW THE THEFT OCCURRED
According to Polisia.kz, in 2025 a diesel generator unit was installed on the outskirts of one of the villages in the Altyndinsky rural district. The equipment ensured the uninterrupted operation of water supply networks and wells that provide the population with drinking water.
During operational and investigative measures, officers from the Bulandinsky district police department established that two workers who had carried out work on the territory of the water supply networks had knowledge of the installation and the specifics of the facility's security.
WHAT THE INVESTIGATION ESTABLISHED
According to the investigation's version, in April 2026 the suspects entered into a preliminary conspiracy and decided to steal the equipment. Using a vehicle, a winch and other tools, they entered the facility's territory, dismantled the diesel generator unit and transported it away.
The cost of the equipment was around 7 million tenge. After the theft, the operation of the equipment ensuring the functioning of the settlement's water supply infrastructure was disrupted.
WHEN THE SECOND THEFT OCCURRED
In May 2026, the organiser of the group suggested that his accomplice commit another theft from the territory of the same limited liability partnership. On 6 May, they stole components for the diesel unit worth over 400 thousand tenge.
According to the investigation materials, the individuals involved disposed of the stolen property as they saw fit.
WHAT THE POLICE ESTABLISHED
Police officers carried out a range of operational, investigative and procedural measures. As a result, the identities of the suspects were established, and the stolen equipment was found and seized.
The investigation is ongoing. The inquiry is establishing all the circumstances of the incident, the amount of damage caused and the role of each participant.
