The FBKK editorial office has received photographs of road markings on Mangilik El Avenue in Astana, which appear uneven, partially worn, and inconsistent. According to eyewitnesses, on certain sections, a dashed line has been applied instead of the correct bus lane marking, and the Bus Lane markings themselves have been applied incorrectly.
WHAT THE PHOTOS SHOW
In the images from Mangilik El Avenue, it can be seen that the old yellow markings, presumably indicating the bus lane, are partially still visible, but a new white line has been applied nearby. Visually, they do not align, creating ambiguous lane boundaries.
Additionally, there are no duplicate bus lane markings on the section, making it even harder to clearly understand the traffic organisation.

WHY THIS MATTERS
In this situation, a driver may not understand whether the bus lane is in effect on that section. This creates a risk of violations and potential fines when driving, depending on which line is followed.
According to road marking requirements in Kazakhstan, lines must be clear, unambiguous, and not open to double interpretation. When markings are renewed, previous lines must be removed to avoid visual confusion.
REQUESTS TO STATE BODIES
The FBKK editorial office has sent a request to the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan to clarify whether such markings meet the established requirements.
A request has also been sent to the Police Department of the city of Astana asking how potential driver confusion would be taken into account in such cases and who is responsible for fines when markings are ambiguous.
